Filling of grit bins at Lane Head
Access for Drain Gully Clearing Teams
Issue type:
Road Issue – Drains – Blocked
Date first noticed
3rd September, 2017
Additional information
The Parish Council are concerned that the drains in and around the village of Longnor are not being cleared/emptied regularly, probably because of the parking of cars is preventing the council gully clearing teams gaining proper access to the drain grids. The Parish Council would like to know the Staffordshire Highways schedule of work on this matter so that they can assist in keeping the streets clear of parked cars to help the Gully clearing teams. The Parish Councillors fear that if the current situation is allowed to continue then the end result will be flooding and great damage/costs/losses of property in the village. Basically, if you can give us some notice of when you are coming to empty the grids we will make every effort to ensure you have easy access to them. Thank you Steve Mansfield Clerk to the Parish Council 01298 83308

LONGNOR signs
Issue type:
Road Issue – Road signs – Missing
Date first noticed
12th October, 2017
Additional information
Most of the signs announcing to visitors that they are entering the village of Longnor are old or missing. The Parish Council would like to have the opportunity to discuss with Staffordshire Highways the replacement of the old and missing signs with attractive new signs in keeping with the approach to this popular tourist destination. The Parish Council may be able to contribute to the extra costs of making the signs more suitable than the standard black and white metal signs.

Drains in Longnor
Issue type:
Road Issue – Drains – Other
Date first noticed
12th September, 2017
Additional information
The drains on the Main Roads through Longnor have been cleared but those in side roads have not. The Parish Council has asked if the County Council Highways Department have a map of the drains that need to be emptied and a schedule of when this work takes place. Residents are concerned that if the drains are not cleared regularly there will be flooding issues in the next period of heavy rains. It may be that cars are parked over the drains preventing clearance. If the Parish Council have a map and a schedule of work, efforts can be made to ensure access to drains is available to SCC Highways contractors when necessary.
