WAINS LANE
The poor condition of Wains Lane from Church Road leading north has been under discussion at meetings of the Parish Council. The Chair and the Clerk have met with a representative of Staffordshire Footpaths association to discuss improvements but have had no result; just advice to contact Staffordshire Highways.
The Clerk to Longnor Parish Council has contacted Staffordshire Highways who say they are not responsible for this section of the footpath. The section they recognise is marked in light purple on the map (Click below to see map from Staffordshire Highways website).

Staffordshire Highways advised the Clerk to contact the Land Registry to find out who owns that strip of land to the east of the graveyard and garages, which joins Church Road to the beginning of the footpath that Staffordshire Highways recognise. The Clerk did so and found out that the strip of land is not registered with the Land Registry and is not known to them as a footpath. The land on which the garages are built is registered but the graveyard is not registered.
Until the owner of the strip of land known locally as Wains Lane comes forward with deeds the ownership of the land and the responsibility for maintenance of the footpath remains unclear.
